Event Information

The 18th & Vine Arts Festival is committed to celebrating Black art and culture by providing a platform for established and emerging Black artists to showcase their work, network with fellow creatives, and honor the powerful impact Black art has on the world. We are dedicated to highlighting the work of Black artists to cultivate an unforgettable 3-day experience at Kansas City’s historical 18th and Vine area where audiences from around the globe can engage in and explore various forms of art across the disciplines of music, dance, visual and literary arts, fashion, digital media, and film.

FESTIVAL HOURS

Friday, September 27, 2024: 5 pm-10 pm
Saturday, September 28, 2024: 10 am-10 pm
Sunday, September 29, 2024: 10 am-5 pm

We will select ten (10) food truck vendors for the 18th and Vine Arts Festival. Information and further details will be provided in the confirmation email once selected. There is no application fee for food truck applicants.

Food Truck Information

BEVERAGE RULES:
All food trucks may sell non-alcoholic beverages. All drinks and pricing must be included on the menu submitted with the application.

CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE:
Provide a certificate of liability insurance for $1,000,000.

ELECTRICITY:
Electric needs must not exceed 110 volts/15 amps. YOU MUST REQUEST ADDITIONAL ELECTRICAL ACCESS AT TIME OF APPLICATION to receive it. Food trucks are permitted to use quiet generators. Food trucks and food vendors will pay for additional electricity if needed and will tape all electrical cords down and maintain their secure taping during the festival. Food Trucks will supply electrical cords with covers if stretched across a walkway.

FIRE EXTINGUISHERS:
All food trucks deep frying must have CURRENT K-Type fire extinguishers with current service tags. Food trucks that are not frying must have a minimum of one, 2A:20BC and one K-rated fire extinguisher. A maximum of two LP gas containers with a total aggregate water capacity of 25 gallons is permitted on a single food truck.

HEALTH PERMIT:
All food trucks must apply and be approved for a Temporary Food Service Establishment Permit. A Temporary Food Service Establishment Permit must be obtained by the 18th and Vine Arts Festival before set-up at the festival. All Food Trucks MUST DISPLAY a FOOD HANDLERS CERTIFICATION. A copy of this certification must be given to the 18th and Vine Arts Festival Logistics Director before setup. Vendors will not be able to set up if our Logistics Director does not have the certification on file.

MENU:
Food trucks are allowed to sell only menu items that were submitted during the application process and approved during the selection process. Additional menu items not approved by the 18th and Vine Arts Festival need prior written approval before they are eligible for sale. Prices of menu items are approved during the selection process. Changes to menu pricing are not allowed without prior written approval by the 18th and Vine Arts Festival.

PHOTOGRAPHY & PROMOTION:
Food trucks agree to allow the use of video and photography taken by 18th and Vine Arts Festival organizers at the event for promotional purposes. Any photos taken by the event are the property of the 18th and Vine Arts Festival.

PROPANE TANKS:
All vendors with propane tanks are required to bring all necessary equipment to secure them properly.

SAFETY & SECURITY:

  • Applicants shall sell and serve food at their own risk.

  • Applicants must obey all pertinent safety codes and laws, including, but not limited to, fire, safety, and parking regulations.

  • 18th and Vine Arts Festival reserves the right to shut down any vendors not meeting cleanliness and food storage safety codes and laws.

SPACE:

  • Food trucks and food vendors will abide by 18th and Vine Arts Festival staff requirements regarding location(s). 18th and Vine Arts Festival reserves the right to change a vendor location at any time.

  • Food trucks will provide all required equipment for operations and sales.

  • Food truck A-frame signs cannot extend further than 3 feet from the façade of the truck.

  • Food trucks are liable for any injury or damage caused by signs.

  • Any food vendors that fry must be in a food truck only.

WASTE:

  • No grease or gray water disposal is available.

  • No water is provided by the 18th and Vine Arts Festival.

  • Food Truck Vendors are responsible for removing debris and ensuring the general cleanliness of the area.

WEATHER:

  • The 18th and Vine Arts Festival will take place rain or shine. Applicants agree to be present despite weather conditions. Each participant is responsible for preparing their displays to withstand weather fluctuations including rain and wind.

FOOD TRUCKS AND FOOD VENDORS ARE INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS:

Food trucks execute this Agreement as independent contractors and shall at all times have complete supervision, direction, and control over the services to fulfill requirements. Food Truck vendors execute this agreement as independent contractors, not as employees of the 18th and Vine Arts Festival. Vendors will assume responsibility for the appropriate payment of payroll taxes and charges under applicable federal and local law. Food Truck Vendors agree to take complete responsibility for paying the appropriate federal and state taxes as independent contractors.
